Rotary Club of Santa Maria South
Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2013, Santa Maria Rotary South boasts two of its charter members as current members. An evening club begun for doctors, attorneys and other professionals and business owners who had difficulty getting away during the day, Santa Maria Rotary South has maintained a spirit of camaraderie and service for four decades, meeting now the first three Mondays of the month, with any fifth Mondays reserved for community service. Members span all ages and professions - from the youngest at 28 to a few in their active 80s, members are business owners, professionals, sales people and retail owners. Signature activities include serving meals for the Central Coast Rescue Mission and hosting the annual "Santa Maria Has Talent!" talent competition, which serves as both a community service and a fundraiser. Activities: A fall wine event, co-sponsoring of the Christmas Parade of Lights, support for youth leadership camp attendees and two village schools in La Paz, Mexico, donations to a variety of nonprofits serving youth and other good causes. An opportunity to network over a glass of wine in the Santa Maria Inn Tap Room prior to meetings has always been a welcome member benefit. Special membership program for young professionals.
